You have an idea of what this sounds like, and you're mostly correct. A little less baroque, maybe, but the grizzly boys are doing that same thing they did 5-8 years ago to, somehow, not at all reduced effect. Really, this sounds like the very zeitgeist of 2011, inexplicably aged well as hell. Imagine if the Dirty Projectors dude had actually attempted to integrate the woke, just-found-out-there's-life-outside-New-York-and-upstate-New-York awareness of other music genres attempted on Keep Your Name or the Dawn Richard-featuring Cool Your Heart instead of making this extremely bad post and you're most of the way there. So many of the indie rock old guard have made ill-fated attempts at modernization through electronics! that by comparison you're in good shape simply by staying the course.
